Antony Flemming

Antony Flemming is an English tattoo artist, painter and founder of Six and Grace Tattoo Studio in Calgary, Canada. Originally from Ruislip in West London, he has spent nearly two decades developing a career that brings together tattooing, fine art, travel and community.

His early career took shape at World of Tattoos in London, where working in a busy high street studio meant dealing directly with a wide range of people and ideas. That experience helped shape an approach rooted in custom design, drawing and respect for the person wearing the tattoo. Originality has remained central to his outlook, and he has spoken publicly about protecting artists' work and maintaining standards within the industry.

Over time, Antony developed a distinctive approach to neo traditional tattooing, combining expressive animal portraits, botanical subjects and ornamental detail. His work balances strong structure with rich colour and carefully considered composition. Birds, animals and flowers are recurring subjects, with Tattoodo including him in its selection of Canada's top tattoo artists for his interpretation of wildlife and nature.

Tattooing has taken Antony around the world, with guest spots in New York and Los Angeles, convention appearances in Austin Texas and Paris, and extensive work at studios and conventions throughout the UK and Canada. These experiences have connected him with artists and collectors across different countries and tattoo communities.

His work has also led to collaborations beyond the studio. In 2014, Marshall selected him as one of five tattoo artists for its Custom Shop Tattoo Series, putting his designs onto a range of amplifiers distributed internationally.

After moving to Calgary in 2018, Antony opened Six and Grace in 2020. Alongside his tattoo work, he has taught and supported multiple artists at different stages of their tattoo journeys, sharing his experience and helping them develop their skills and confidence. He also hosts paint nights that welcome both tattooers and people who simply enjoy making art. His approach to mentorship reflects a belief in sharing knowledge, encouraging others and continuing to learn throughout a creative career.

Reworking older tattoos is a particularly rewarding part of his craft. Antony enjoys the creative challenge of finding potential in an existing piece, whether that means restoring its impact, changing its direction or building it into a larger composition. The satisfaction comes from helping someone feel proud of a tattoo they once felt unhappy with.

Beyond tattooing, Antony creates original paintings and prints, alongside custom murals that bring his artwork into larger spaces. His mural practice extends his interest in colour, nature and composition to walls and event settings, including work for Calgary's Badlands Music Festival. Working at this scale gives him another way to explore his ideas and create artwork that people can experience together.

Giving back has been a recurring part of Antony's career. He created the Brighton Tattoo Convention Charity Football Match, bringing the tattoo community together through football and raising more than £20,000 for Cancer Research UK.

In Calgary, he has worked with Wild Rose Brewery on multiple charitable initiatives, including fundraising for Australian wildfire relief. His artwork also featured in a Local Laundry collaboration with hockey player Josh Morrissey supporting the Glass Half Full Foundation. Throughout his career, he has supported further causes through charity flash days and fundraisers, using his work to bring people together and contribute where he can.

Outside the studio, Antony is a proud father to his twin boys, River and Robin, and the owner and a player of Calgary football club New West Manor. Art and football have remained constants through his move from London to Canada, giving him ways to express himself, build friendships and contribute to the communities around him.

Today, his work spans skin, canvas and walls, with the same commitment running through each: thoughtful design, continual improvement and creating something that matters to the person it is made for.
